Named "out of the bubble", the short tours are designed by the Japanese side to promote tourism and help journalists and international media. The economy has time to relax after a long period of isolation.
Mikai Asai from the Japan Tourism Agency said: “All journalists and media staff are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine period, and due to many restrictions, they are not allowed to go out to take pictures. But we want to share Japanese culture and want people to enjoy it as part of our hospitality.”
According to the schedule, the tour will only be available to journalists who have completed a 14-day quarantine. Expectedly, the tour will pass through famous tourist sites around Tokyo, lasting about 2 hours, including time for temperature checks. In particular, the time to visit at each point is limited to 30 minutes and social distance is ensured. Journalists and media staff will be divided into small groups and have 2 tours per day.
A journalist from Finland, Heikki Valkama shared: “This is a good idea, but it also needs to be organized very carefully. It's good that we have time to get out of the 'bubble' and make more memories during this business trip."
